The Orsino Ensemble live from Wigmore Hall

The Orsino Ensemble play wind music by Barber, Nielsen and a UK premiere of Mark Simpson's The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows. Plus, Gabriela Montero's 'Latin Concerto'.

Linton Stephens presents an afternoon of live recordings you won't hear anywhere else. A focus on conductors this week begins with Elim Chan directing the BBC Symphony Orchestra in Gabriela Montero's 'Latin Concerto', the composer herself at the piano. We also travel to New Ross, a port town on the River Barrow in County Wexford, Ireland for the New Ross Piano Festival where the internationally acclaimed pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet plays Ravel and Haydn. To begin, a recital from the Orsino Ensemble live from Wigmore Hall.
