Handel's Alcina

Handel's Alcina from the Royal Opera House starring Lisette Oropesa as Alcina and Emily D'Angelo as the knight Ruggiero.

The sorceress Alcina has it all worked out: on her Love Island she has an endless supply of lovers, and the magical means to dispose of them when she gets bored. But when her current lover Ruggiero’s fiancée turns up, Alcina’s fantasy world collides with cruel reality. Love, duty, mercy and courtesy are all explored in this revival of Richard Jones’ Olivier Award-winning production.

Recorded on the 24th Oct at the Royal Ballet and Opera, presented by Ian Skelly with guest Handel expert Suzanne Aspden.
