Explorer David Hempleman Adams is castaway by Sue Lawley.

Back in 1998, David had recently become the first British person to complete the Explorer's Grand Slam.

It took him 18 years.

When he reached the North Pole just a few months before, he had conquered the four main poles.

He'd also climbed the highest peaks in each of the seven continents.

He was quite literally on top of the world.
