BBC Food & Farming Awards finalist: Food and Forest

Charlie Tebbutt is a man on a mission to grow UK agroforestry. After studying ecology, he became passionate about the idea of farming with trees - either alongside livestock or planted in rows through arable fields. For him, it's a way of combining efficient food production with habitat creation and beauty.

Many farmers considering agroforestry come up against the problem of what to do with the produce from their new trees - be it fruit or nuts. So Charlie took on the challenge of fixing that problem and set up a company to create a market for nuts grown in agroforestry systems.

9 years on, he not only buys nuts from agroforestry systems across the UK and around the world but has taken on some nut orchard tenancies and become a farmer himself! In this programme Mali Harries visits Charlie's London warehouse and takes a trip to the orchards in Kent.

Food and Forest has been chosen as one of three finalists in the "Farming for the Future" category in this year's BBC Food and Farming Awards. Now, it's judgement time!
