The eclectic classical mix

Today's 30‑minute sequence begins with the gentle and calming combination of clarinet and piano from the composer Camille Saint‑Saëns, before venturing to the Bavarian Highlands in Edward Elgar’s ‘On the Alm’ arranged for chorus and orchestra. The sequence concludes with the captivating sound of Rebecca Clarke’s Daybreak. It arrives there via a reflective moment from Leonard Bernstein’s ‘A Quiet Place’, taken from the 1983 opera of the same name, the elaborate and expressive tones of George Frideric Handel’s 'I Know That My Redeemer Liveth', and a beautifully pensive piece by film composers Anthony John and Alexandra Harwood, 'Beginning at the End', from the movie 'The Escape'.
