What do Lord's Cricket Pavilion, Glasgow’s Ibrox Stadium and Liverpool University have in common? They are all constructed with distinctive terracotta tiles and bricks made by JC Edwards in the north Wales town of Wrexham. The company even made tiles for the ocean liners, Titanic and Olympic! In the 19th century, this Welsh firm employed more than a thousand people, making high-quality bricks for some of the nation’s most famous buildings, and local historian Phil Vaughan is keen to show Roo Irvine JC Edwards’s architectural legacy.

Hoping to construct a profit are two teams of bargain hunters, shopping for deals in the Herefordshire market town of Leominster. On the red team are friends Tracey and Hilary, who met while teaching in school. They are up against pals Julia and Helen on the blue team. With antiques expert Charles Hanson by their side, the red team have their heads turned by a ceramic owl. The blues, meanwhile, are on a giraffe hunt. Their expert Richard Madley thinks a silver-plated one has legs!

Back in Wrexham, auctioneer Matthew Tong gives his estimates on the teams’ items, and for one duo, there is a blooming marvellous bonus buy!
