Karen Nyame KG - The Music Is Black Special

With a new EP out and a run of live dates ahead, Karen Nyame KG brings her Afro-electronic sounds to the 6 Mix.

A pioneering force from the first wave of UK Funky, and one of the few Black women producers helping to define the sound at its peak, Karen Nyame KG remains rooted in the percussive swing and diasporic rhythms that shaped her early work. With a new EP, Epiphany, out on Black Acre and a run of live dates ahead, she joins the 6 Mix to showcase her signature blend of Afro-electronic sounds.

This show has been produced as part of the BBC's celebration of The Music is Black, a collaboration with V&A East Museum.
