Prokofiev's Symphony No. 5 from the Proms

Elizabeth Alker introduces a week of highlights from the BBC Proms, including a performance by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and conductor Delyana Lazarova. Joined by acclaimed violinist Alena Baeva, they perform Korngold's cinematic Violin Concerto, inspired by the composer's Hollywood film scores, alongside Prokofiev's powerful Symphony No. 5.

Elsewhere, there's a selection of chamber music from this year's Ryedale Festival, with works by Strauss, Schubert and Mendelssohn performed by an outstanding line-up of artists. The programme also includes highlights from the International Sacred Music Festival in Fribourg, Switzerland, featuring music by the 18th-century Venetian composer, Baldassare Galuppi.
