Dvořák's Symphony No. 7 in D minor from the BBC Proms

Mark Forrest introduces a week of highlights from the BBC Proms, featuring some of the festival's standout performances. The BBC National Orchestra of Wales, conducted by Elena Schwarz, is joined by violinist Alina Ibragimova for Mendelssohn's lyrical Violin Concerto in E minor. The programme also includes Dvořák's dramatic Symphony No. 7 in D minor and Bernd Alois Zimmermann's colourful Märchen-Suite (Fairy-Tale Suite).

Elsewhere, chamber music from this year's Ryedale Festival shines a spotlight on Schubert, with performances of the Piano Sonata in C minor and the String Quartet No. 14 in D minor, Death and the Maiden. The programme also includes highlights from the International Sacred Music Festival in Fribourg.
