London’s vibrant music scene has deep roots inthe 18th century, when concert series filled the city’s most prestigious salons. One of the most celebrated of these was the one led by composers Johann Christian Bach and Carl Friedrich Abel, which featured their own music and works by outstanding European composers such as Haydnand CPE Bach, as well as visiting virtuosi such as Juan Oliver y Astorga, that embodied the arrival of the Classical style.
Anacronia performs some of the composers and repertoire associated with the Bach-Abel concerts, including:
Johann Christian Bach - Flute Quartet in C major
Carl Fridrich Abel - Flute Quartet in D major
Juan Oliver y Astorga - Trio for 2 violins and bass
Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach - Divertimento in G major
Joseph Haydn - Flute Quartet in D major
