A Beginner’s Guide
Musicians Dónal O'Connor and Andy McGregor chat to Anne-Marie and Caoimhe Ceol in the run-up to Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.
A forensic but light-hearted four-part series presented by Anne-Marie Wallace and Caoimhe Ceol Ní Chathail, who bring us a deep dive into what traditional music festival Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann is and isn’t. This evening's first episode hosts musicians Dónal O’Connor, fiddle player, and Director of Belfast Tradfest, and Pipe Major Andy McGregor, Vice-Chair of Belfast Tradfest, who treat us to a beginner’s guide to the Fleadh and what happens when two great music festivals sit side by side in the same city.
This is a series full of endearing anecdotes, previous archive, tips on how one climbs to gold in the Fleadh and can anyone apply to play? Featuring session musician greats new and old, Anne-Marie and Caoimhe allow us to soak up the general atmosphere and craic of this huge music festival which is coming to Belfast for the first time.
