Episode 8

Today, Tacha is on the postnatal ward caring for Abigail who is hoping to go home after giving birth. Over the coming weeks, as her preceptorship year draws to a close, Tacha must decide which ward she wants to work on once she’s fully qualified. At the moment she’s still undecided but is hoping a stint in the community will help her make a decision.

Summah and Lilli are starting a book club on the ward and are off to a book shop to decide on the first read. But the real decision is back on the ward where Lilli is being asked to consider promotion and step up to Band 6. This means she’ll have to work independently and take on more responsibility. And like Tacha, she’s being asked what she’d like to specialise in.

On Delivery Suite, Abi is looking after Denise and her partner Dave. This is Denise’s second baby, and she is being induced due to suffering from preeclampsia. Not long after being induced, Denise goes into active labour and Abi must draw on all her experience as a midwife.

As the series draws to a close, the young midwives get together for a spa day. After enjoying lunch, where Mollie sets Summah up on a blind date with her friend, some of the midwives enjoy a freshwater swim.

In the community, Tacha checks up on Denise, Dave and baby Mia.
