Episode 6

The young midwives enjoy a night out together. Summah must think about her future on the ward, while Mollie is thinking about her future off the ward.

The young midwives get together for an evening out together to talk about their lives on and off the ward. Mollie shows off her engagement ring, as she talks about plans for the wedding. Howie talks about the difference between being a midwife in Zambia and a midwife in Basildon.

Back on the ward Katie and Dan are expecting their first child. Katie is diabetic so is being closely monitored by the midwifery team. She’s on the waiting list for a caesarean section due to reduced foetal movement. The pair can’t wait to meet the baby, and Dan has dressed for the occasion.

Matron Corrinne wants to speak to Summah in her office. It’s good news… Corrinne has been so impressed with Summah of late that she wants her to consider stepping up and taking on more responsibility. Is Summah ready to make the leap?

At the same time, preceptorship lead Lesley wants Howie to start thinking about stepping up as well, which “makes his day”.

Mollie, whose trip to Bali feels like a distant memory, catches up with some of her old mentors, who helped her when she was a trainee midwife. Today they’re enjoying a cold-water swim in the North Sea.

Lilli meets up with her boyfriend of nine months, Jack, for an evening of axe throwing followed by pizza.
