Music, chat and Jalen Ngonda

Mark and Stuart present a feast of great music, plus Jalen Ngonda shares his ‘First, Last and Everything’ tracks and chats about his new album and tour.

Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie present a feast of great music and chat for weekend breakfast.

Today Mark and Stuart are joined by singer, songwriter and musician Jalen Ngonda. Jalen shares his ‘First, Last and Everything’ - that’s his first record, the most recent one he's enjoyed and the record that means ‘everything’ to him - and chats about his new album and current tour.

Growing up in the outskirts of Washington DC, Jalen was introduced to soul music by his father, mostly through his collection of Motown CDs. Jalen began writing songs at the age of 14 and moved to the UK to study at Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts. His debut album 'Come Around And Love Me' was released in 2023, and he is currently on tour with his new album 'Doctrine Of Love.'

Also on the show ... long-running feature ‘The Chain’ which gives listeners the chance to pick a track that links in some way to the last. The list now contains over 8,700 songs.

With a selection of music old and new to get the weekend started.

Produced in Salford by Audio Always for BBC Radio 6 Music.
