The America 250 Ulster Scots Liberty Quilt and Indoor Piping in Dromore!
The America 250 Ulster Scots Liberty Quilt and indoor piping in Dromore!
Helen Mark MBE presents BBC Radio Ulster’s weekly Ulster-Scots magazine, alongside Willie Hill and Rab Lennox. We have a double bill of special extended features on this week's show!
First, Helen meets the people behind the America 250 Ulster Scots Liberty Quilt, which is being patched together to mark the upcoming anniversary in the US. The project is led by the Small Steps community development organisation, which is based in North Belfast, and the quilt will depict stories of the roles played by the Ulster Scots in America.
Meanwhile, Rab and Willie revisit their adventures at what was a kind of opening event for the piping season, taking place in Dromore. The twist: it was all indoors!
As always, listeners are invited to contact the programme with a good Ulster-Scots yarn or event to talk about. The easiest way to do that is by email via helen.mark@bbc.co.uk.
