The Final
The judges have travelled the country in their search for Scotland’s home of the year 2026. Now the six regional winners go head-to-head for the title.
It’s the grand final! Judges interior designer Anna Campbell-Jones, architect Danny Campbell and Isle of Mull-based interior designer Banjo Beale have scoured the country in search of Scotland’s Home of the Year. It’s now down to the final six homes – the winners of each regional episode – to go head-to-head, but only one of them can take the prestigious title.
The judges have invited the six regional winners to join them at Glasgow’s House for an Art Lover, where they will go through each home assessing them on architectural merit, distinctive design and personal style, before whittling six down to three, and then – the toughest job of all – choosing the overall winner of Scotland’s Home of the Year 2026.
Meanwhile, the finalists will get to meet the judges for the first time, meet one another and cast their eyes over the competition.
The six finalists are:
Homegrown Hoose, a bungalow conversion in the Mortonhall area of Edinburgh, which won in the east. It’s been home to Emily, Robert and their kids Jackson and Ada for 14 years. Horticulturalist Emily and professor of timber engineering Robert have brought their skills together to fulfil a sustainable modernisation of this mid-century property.
The Black Shed on the Isle of Skye, which won in the Highlands and Islands. Homeowners Nick and Joan fell in love with this contemporary home inspired by traditional blackhouses. Since buying the property, they've added their own touches to modify this minimalist architect-designed home.
Blawlowan, a Georgian townhouse in Bridge of Allan, which won in the central region. Homeowners Linda and Euan had admired the house for years before moving in seven years ago, and renovated throughout, celebrating the homes original features while also adding character through upcycling and antiques.
The winner in the west is a semi-detached house in the village of Kilmacolm in Inverclyde. Victorian Sandstone Villa is home to Wendy, Scott, kids Hunter and Summer, and dog Tux. They extended the original handsome home, creating a bright and adaptable kitchen/dining/living space for the entire family to enjoy.
Granny’s House won in the south. This extended family home near Gatehouse of Fleet in Dumfries and Galloway was inherited by Duncan and Vicki, having been in the family for generations. They’ve extended it to create a large living space and have added fun features such as a swimming pond for their three sons to enjoy.
Grindwell Knowe on Shetland won in the north-east and Northern Isles. Homeowner Susie lives in this converted crofter’s house with her miniature poodle, Pascha. Originally from the US, Susie retired to Shetland in 2008 and began a major cottage renovation and extension project in 2008, which has culminated in a beautifully extended home that celebrates its unique location.
