Faith and Hospitality

Pam Rhodes meets Christians expressing faith through hospitality and explores why offering a welcome lies at the heart of Christianity, with the Archbishop of Wales, Cherry Vann.

Pam Rhodes explores how faith is lived out through hospitality, meeting people whose homes, churches and communities are shaped by welcome and generosity.

At Newport Cathedral, Pam meets the Archbishop of Wales, the Most Reverend Cherry Vann, who reflects on what it means to offer – and receive – a warm welcome, and how hospitality is at the heart of Christianity.

In Sheffield, we visit the City of Sanctuary, an independent charity working to assist and welcome those seeking sanctuary. Founder Inderjit Bhogal explains how he first found welcome in a Methodist church after arriving in the UK, an experience that sparked a lifelong commitment to meeting fear and hostility with hospitality and compassion.

Pam also hears the remarkable story of Rob and Di Parsons, whose lives were changed when faith led them to answer a knock at the door over 50 years ago and welcome a stranger who would transform their lives.

With hymns that reflect the hospitality, grace and warmth of Jesus’s message:

1. Love Divine – St Davids Cathedral
2. O Thou Who Camest from Above – Canterbury Cathedral
3. Beauty for Brokenness – St Elisabeth’s Church, Reddish
4. Glad to Be in the Service – Sound Foundation Choir
5. Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus – Guildhall, Londonderry
6. Let Us Build a House – Canongate Kirk, Edinburgh
