Alistair Cooke remembers two great American talents who both died in 1977:
* Comedian and actor, Groucho Marx - aged 86
* Actor and crooner, Bing Crosby - aged 74.
His weekly 15 minute talks on American life, history and politics were broadcast on BBC radio from 1946 – 2004.
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in December 1977.
