Water worlds and ancestral wisdom
Encounter adventurous music from around the globe as Verity Sharp dives into music inspired by water and explores liberation music with its feet in past, present and future.
Verity Sharp presents adventurous music from around the globe, including a new release from free jazz collective Irreversible Entanglements, whose sound addresses “futures full of possibility, the present with all its uncertainties, and [...] wellsprings of ancestral wisdom”. Also, Verity dives into watery kingdoms with the help of coastal dwellers Félicia Atkinson and Christina Vantzou, who offer a musical ode to their collective muse, the sea, which, for them, is “a person, per se; an energy, a mystery, a complex character we face everyday..."; and with Annea Lockwood via her seminal work, World Rhythms, which foregrounds the music of trickles, torrents and splashes.
