Katya continues her journey through Spain. She trains with a team of firefighters and learns that the country is spending billions to fight climate change - but that money is coming out of their national defence budget. In Madrid, lawyer Victor Cortizo explains how Spain, unlike many other European countries, is welcoming China’s growing interest in their country.

Katya then travels to France, visiting the South American region of French Guiana, where she watches a rocket launch. She meets Toni Tolker-Nielsen, who has worked at the European Space Agency for 30 years.

Finally, Katya is off to Paris to hear about France’s generous welfare state, before travelling into the stunning French countryside to meet Cedric and other farmers who are fed up with European regulations.
