4. Adjusting to your age

Violinist Tasmin Little looks at how, when and why musicians retire from performance. Featuring pianist Maria João Pires, violinist Lyn Fletcher and conductor Herbert Blomstedt.

Violinist Tasmin Little looks at how, when and why musicians retire from performance. As someone who stopped performing in her 50s, Tasmin wants to open up the conversation so that musicians don't feel obligated to carry on, or wait until life decides for you to make a change.

She speaks to Portuguese pianist Maria João Pires about the importance of adjusting to your age because if you want to enjoy your older years, then you need to prepare for it. The world's oldest working conductor, Herbert Blomstedt shares his secret to longevity and the plans for his 100th birthday. And Violinist Lyn Fletcher who led the Halle Orchestra for 22 years, shares her sense of obligation to make way for the next generation.
