Ruairi takes a brave step while one resident struggles with their circumstances.

Ruairi cooks for Jennifer and Brian while they spend the evening baby-sitting Xander. While they play Cluedo, Ruairi counsels Brian and Jennifer on Alice’s alcoholism. Jennifer’s sad that Alice didn’t share her problems sooner. She’s always hoped that her children could talk to her about anything. Ruairi seizes the opportunity to tell Brian and Jennifer he’s bisexual. Jennifer gushes her gratitude to Ruairi for being happy to tell them. Brian needs some encouragement but is also accepting of this news. Later, Jennifer chides Brian for how he reacted to Ruairi’s announcement. Brian protests, he thought he was doing the right thing. He’s sure not to make the same mistake he made when Adam came out. Nevertheless he is a little befuddled by Ruairi’s bisexuality and admits being an old dinosaur. The conversation returns to Alice. Jennifer hopes they could put any mistakes they’ve made with Alice right by being here for her now.

Neil drops round a lasagne to a glum Shula. Her ordainment placement has been postponed while her arm is in a sling. Despite Shula insisting she can manage fine by herself, Neil sets to work on serving the food and changing a spotlight that’s blown. When Shula spills some of her drink, Neil starts to fuss. Shula sharply tells him to leave immediately.
