Though Manson has fallen in love and feels like he can take on the world, much to the irritation of his friend and narrator, Dr Denny.
Set in a mid 1920s South Wales mining town, Drineffy.
Based on AJ Cronin's ground breaking novel, which is said to have partly inspired the creation of the NHS.
