Tony is put in an awkward position, and Emma is suspicious.

Emma worries about why Jim Lloyd wants to help her with her Parish Council election campaign. As clerk, Jim should remain neutral, so could he have an ulterior motive? Emma shares her suspicions with Peggy, who observes that if Jim wants to risk his position then it's up to him. Emma decides to accept Jim's offer of help.

Eddie and Joe are apple scrumping near Borchester, on a site marked for a housing development. Joe wants take some cuttings to rescue the apple trees from the bulldozers. However, he can't until the leaves have fallen, which could be too late. At The Bull, Nic enjoys being back working on the bar and gives Joe and Eddie some business advice. Joe asks Justin Elliot if he knows when the Borchester development will start, and Justin reluctantly agrees to ask around.

Tony tells Peggy that Justin has asked him to be witness at the wedding and Tony is undecided about accepting. Peggy thinks it shows that Justin really wants to be part of the family, and says it's about making it a happy day for Lilian. Persuaded, Tony tells Justin at The Bull that he would be honoured to take part. Justin reassures Lilian that it will be the perfect wedding.
