Fish virus, Green belt, Tick survey

Careless anglers could be spreading a killer virus among fish. The KHV disease is thought to be spread through dirty nets.

Careless anglers could be spreading a killer virus among fish. This summer 500 carp died from the"KHV" disease at a fishery lake in Worcestershire. Its owner had to close the fishery for several weeks as a result and is now concerned the killer virus could cause more problems if anglers don't take precautions, like cleaning and disinfecting nets.

There's new evidence today to suggest that there is a growing number of ticks in the UK. Scientists working on the largest UK study of ticks in dogs have found that almost a third were carrying a tick when they were checked at random during a visit to the vet. Ticks can carry a range of diseases including Lyme disease, which can be fatal to humans.
