National Open Youth Orchestra concert access information

CYMRAEG

Welcome to BBC Hoddinott Hall, home of the BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales. Below you’ll find accessibility information for our concert with the National Open Youth Orchestra.

If you have any questions about accessibility, please don’t hesitate to get in touch by emailing us at now@bbc.co.uk

Wheelchair user spaces

Six wheelchair user spaces are available, with free companion spaces. Four spaces are available in the back row and two in the front row of the concert hall.

The four seats in the back row (Row O) have a size restriction of 90cm wide by 80cm long, so may not be suitable for larger wheelchairs. They can be reached using the lift to Level 2 of Wales Millennium Centre.

For wheelchairs larger than 80cm in length or 90cm in width there are two seats in the front row (Row A). You will need to enter the concert hall via the BBC NOW Hoddinott Hall entrance (opposite Stage Door), rather than through Wales Millennium Centre. We will provide arrival information two weeks before the event.

The spaces in Row O can be booked online. The spaces in Row A need to be booked by calling Wales Millennium Centre ticket office, who will be happy to help. Please call Wales Millennium Centre Box Office on 029 2063 6464.

Level access seating

Seats with level access are in rows A-G, but please note you will need to enter the concert hall via the BBC NOW Hoddinott Hall entrance (opposite Stage Door), rather than through Wales Millennium Centre. We will provide arrival information two weeks before the event. All other seats have step access. To book these seats, please contact Wales Millennium Centre ticket office so that we know that you require level access and can provide relevant arrival information.

Blue-badge parking

There are 14 pre-bookable, undercover parking spaces available for disabled visitors. Access is via Bute Place, from Pierhead Street, at the side of the building. These must be booked via Wales Millennium Centre for a £5 booking fee. Please visit the WMC website to find out more.

Wales Millennium Centre Blue Badge Car Park

A further 92 designated disabled parking spaces (six per level) are available at Q-Park Cardiff Bay on Pierhead Street, which is opposite BBC Hoddinott Hall.

Accessible toilets

There is an accessible toilet on Level 2 of Wales Millennium Centre located by the bar. Our staff can show you where this is situated.

There is also a Changing Places toilet located on the ground floor with a height adjustable adult-sized changing bench and a tracking hoist system. There is adequate space in the changing area for the person who needs it and up to two carers/PAs, a centrally placed toilet with room either side.

Medical assistance

We have many first-aid trained members of staff so if you require assistance at any time, please ask a member of staff who will be able to call for the relevant person.

Quiet Space

A Chill Out area will be available outside the hall for anyone who needs a quiet break. Or WMC have a quiet room located on the ground floor in the main Glanfa area. If you ever need a moment or feel overwhelmed during your visit, or if you just want somewhere private to sit and contemplate, breastfeed or pray, just ask a member of staff who’ll be able to open it for you.
