How/why did you get started in documentary film-making?

"I got started in documentary film making through a keen interest in the living world and how events are portrayed to audiences."

Why did you pick this subject for Fresh?

"The subjects discussed within Thread affect women of all ages, including teenagers.

"It was my aim to spread awareness of both the Just For Women Centre and domestic abuse because many women involved in domestic violence situations are young."

What motivated you to make this film?

"I have been working with The Just For Women Centre since October 2011 and have watched it grow in both numbers of clients and the size of the property.

"I took this opportunity to help spread awareness of the good that the women's centre does, especially since the centre is a social enterprise and doesn't just deal with domestic violence, they work with women with mental health issues as well."

What camera did you use to shoot your film?

"The camera used is a Sony EX1."

Who/what inspires you?

"My inspirations originate mostly from early black and white cinema, especially the cinema of Lois Weber and Luis Bunuel."

What are your plans for the future?

"Plans for the future include continuing my work with the Just For Women Centre through documentaries focusing on their attributes and works.

"Eventually I would like to begin working on documentaries focusing on the North East of England and life in the north."

What is the most important thing you have learned so far?

"I have learned that no-matter how little an idea you have, it has the potential to affect the lives of both yourself and those around you for the better."
