Temperature hot at Celtic

By Ian Backhouse
Knaresborough Celtic 4 - 2 Lawnswood

Harrogate and District Junior league, 19.11.06

Despite the thermometer registering only 4 degrees the temperature was hot at the home ground for Knaresborough Celtic Under 12s home league tie with top of the table Lawnswood. Only behind Lawnswood on goal difference, anticipation was high amongst the supporters of both teams and the match did not fail to live up to expectations.

A high tempo straight from the start and the visitors were early to dominate. This early pressure paid off and after 10 minutes Lawnswood took the lead. The Celtic coaches however responded early to the style of play and an early substitution warmed the Celtic supporters.

Jonny T broke free down the left and played into the path of Tom B the Celtic substitute who finished the move clinically for Celtic to draw level. Ten minutes of good football by both teams and again Jonny T broke free to score and give Celtic the lead. Half time came and the visitors regrouped, high octane from the whistle and within 2 minutes they pulled one back to make it 2 - 2.

Five minutes later Celtic charged and Tom B stepped up to the mark and hit a crisp volley into the back of the net. The visitors however refused to lie down, making many substitutions to change the game but Celtic held on.

Luke M crunched in for another midfield tackle and finally threw off his markers, a cool pass to Tom B who fired home for his hat trick. The game continued to fizz up to the dying moments and the whistle came.

A great game from both teams, good football played in a great spirit. Great result for Celtic 4 - 2. Well done boys
