Harrogate and District under 12s, 12.11.2006
Knaresborough Celtic Under 12s hosted a talented Pannal Sports side in a return to league business following the Cup exploits of last week. And what a return it turned out to be. Celtic freshened up the team with a number of changes and on a heavy pitch, both sides contributed to an exciting and enthralling match.
Celtic were quickly into their stride and Jonny T and Tom B were proving to be a constant thorn in the Pannal flesh as they brought excellent early saves from the keeper and also struck the woodwork. Celtic dominated with many near misses and goalmouth scrambles and it was only a matter of time before Danny W (playing through the pain barrier) cleverly lobbed the Pannal keeper to open the scoring.
The second half was much more evenly contested and Celtic couldn't find the second goal to make the game safe. The last 10 minutes saw Celtic keeper Travis C on top form with excellent handling and assurance under mounting Pannal pressure.
Celtic held on to record a 1-0 win in a match in which both sides take great credit from.
