The Hippodrome Circus in Great Yarmouth promises to have audiences on the edge of their seats in 2007, by presenting The Wheel Of Death - one of the world's most dangerous circus stunts. Audio and Video links on this page require Realplayer Starring Portugal's Grenadero Brothers, the death-defying feat sees them propelled around a giant spinning frame that reaches far into the ceiling of the circus ring, to only plummet to the ground seconds later. ![]() The Grenadero Brothers Dangerous act"It's a very dangerous act, it's why it's called the Wheel Of Death. We have no safety harness, no safety mat or safety net," said Nuno Grenadero. The Grenadero brothers have been performing on the Wheel Of Death for 14 years and have never had a serious accident. It's a world-class act and a rare treat for visitors to the east coast resort. "It's one of the most exciting acts in the circus business and we were very lucky to get them for this summer," said show producer and Hippodrome owner Peter Jay. "What they do is unbelievable, incredibly dangerous, but they are fantastic performers with it," he added. Harry HoudiniThemed around the work of legendary escapologist Harry Houdini, the summer show also includes African acrobatic troupe The Kenya Chiefs, flying strongman Robert Foxhall and the return of comedy duo Clive Webb and Danny Adams. ![]() Water Spectacular at Hippodrome Circus The Hippodrome Circus is more than 100 years old and is one of the highlights of Great Yarmouth's holiday season. It's just one of three circus rings in the world which can be filled with water. As the show reaches its climax, audiences can enjoy a synchronised swimming showcase as part of the annual water spectacular. The Hippodrome Circus Summer 2007 show runs until Sunday, 9 September.
