We all see litter around our streets, playgrounds and schools, but have you noticed more or less than usual where you live?

Data released by a charity in Scotland, Keep Scotland Beautiful, has shown an increase in the amount of rubbish on Scotland's streets.

The charity has been counting rubbish at thousands of spots across the country for more than 20 years, and its inspections are showing just how littered the country's streets are getting.

So we want to know, do you see a lot of litter around where you live? Do you think something needs to change? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Lots of people in Scotland claim that the litter problem in their country is getting worse, something that data agrees with.

Charity 'Keep Scotland Beautiful' (KSB) have released there 2025 data to show the problem.

This year they found 8.3 per cent of the places it checked were "significantly littered".

Compared the record low they found of 3.7 percent in 2010-11 and 2013-14, that is more than double.

And when it came to where the litter came from, it was a variety of places!

77 percent of litter seen by people surveyed was food containers, wrappers and packaging, with 5 percent of rubbish being related to fast food and more than 11 percent to confectionery.

That is more than 12,000 sweet wrappers on the streets!

And of course, litter isn't just a problem in Scotland but across the UK.

Earlier this year we told you about the bin strikes in Birmingham, something that significantly affected the amount of litter on the streets in that area.

And, as the Christmas period comes to an end, many places have also reported littering in the form of dumped Christmas trees.

Litter not only looks untidy, but can cause problems for the UK's animal population.

Luckily, lots of people try and help with litter picks and other methods, but lots of people say more needs to be done.

Do you agree? Do you think litter is a big problem where you live? And, have you done anything about it? Let us know in the comments.
