King Charles gets green Blue Peter badge

King Charles has been awarded a green Blue Peter badge.

It is in recognition of his lifelong commitment to protecting nature and promoting a more sustainable future.

It's not the first Blue Peter badge that His Majesty has received.

King Charles and Queen Camilla were also recipients of a gold Blue Peter badge back in 2023.

His Royal Highness received the badge from Blue Peter presenter Joel on Earth Day.

The green Blue Peter badge was introduced in November 1988 and recognises people who show they care about the planet, climate change, recycling, protecting animals and their habitats.

Famous previous recipients of the green badge include Sir David Attenborough and Greta Thunberg as well as the King's son - Prince William.

The King has always been passionate about issues such as the environment, climate change and sustainability - which means meeting human needs without harming the planet and its resources for the future.

The Blue Peter team said that the badge "acknowledges His Majesty's leadership on environmental issues and his work through The King's Foundation, which champions sustainable communities, environmental education and working in harmony with nature."

The King will appear in a special episode of Blue Peter on CBBC, and on iPlayer, on Friday 1 May.
