Prime Minister Keir Starmer under pressure to leave his job

The UK's Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, is under pressure from some of his team to step down from his job.
That's because the Labour Party - the political party he is the leader of - had bad results in the recent Welsh and Scottish Parliament elections and local elections in England.
The prime minister now has an important meeting with the cabinet - a group of the most senior members of the government – on Tuesday morning to come up with a plan of action going forward.
However, some of the people who work with him are split on what they think should happen next.

The PM will discuss plans for moving forward with his cabinet on Tuesday
On Monday night, ministers (people with important jobs in the government) went to see the prime minister and he was met with lots of different advice, reports BBC Political reporter Chris Mason.
"Some said he should fight on. Some said he should set out a timetable for his departure. And others, as he weighed his options, tried to help him kick around how he might deal with the scenario he now confronts."
At least 72 Labour MPs (out of 403) have said the prime minister should step down from his job immediately or come up with a plan to leave.
But in a speech on Monday Sir Keir admitted the government has "made mistakes" but vowed to prove "doubters", saying he won't "walk away".
