Scott Couper died in hospital after getting into difficulties in the River Nith last week
A teenager who got into difficulty while out swimming in the River Nith near Dumfries has died in hospital.
The incident happened at about 19:30 on Wednesday when emergency services were called out to the riverbank at Carnsalloch Gardens near Kirkmahoe.
Scott Couper, 15, from Dumfries, was taken to the town's infirmary.
A short statement from police confirmed he had died and a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal.
