Police crack down on car cruising in Castle Donington

Traffic calming measures have been introduced in Leicestershire to stop car cruising.

Leicestershire Constabulary said they had received complaints about speeding and dangerous driving in Castle Donington village on Sunday evenings.

They said semi-permanent measures had been put in place to monitor the disruption to the local community.

A spokesman said the measures included CCTV and automatic number plate recognition.

Sgt Mark Watson said: "This issue has affected a number of local residents over recent years. Despite police intervention the problem has persisted.

"I would urge all drivers at these gatherings to respect the law and other motorists by driving considerately and legally."
