Burnham planning 'listening tour of UK' in early weeks as PMpublished at 10:46 BST
Image source, PA MediaWhile Burnham will officially become prime minister on Monday, he will not face MPs in the Commons until September when the House returns from its six-week summer recess - unless he decides to recall Parliament.
In the meantime, he will undertake a "listening tour of the UK", with Burnham expected to travel to different parts of the country in August.
One of the areas understood to be on his itinerary is Port Talbot in south Wales, a town which saw the closure of its last steel-making blast furnace in September 2024.
There are also reports Burnham will visit Aberdeen, a city at the heart of the debate around the UK's energy future and home of GB Energy - the government's fledgling publicly-owned energy company.
