US midterm elections results 2026

On 3 November, US voters will head to the polls for the midterm elections.

They will choose members of Congress, which is made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate. All 435 members of the House will be elected - they serve fixed terms of two years. Meanwhile, 35 of 100 seats in the Senate will also be up for grabs. Senators serve six-year terms.

The outcome of the midterms will decide which political party - Trump's Republicans or opposition Democrats - controls Congress and how easy it is for the president to carry out his plans.

These tables show when results are expected to start coming in for key Senate and House races during election night. As polls close and votes are counted in each state, they will show the leading candidate and an estimate of how much of the expected vote has been counted so far.
