Hundreds attend launch of Centre4 youth facility
Centre4Hundreds of people turned out for the opening of a youth facility in North East Lincolnshire.
Centre4 in Grimsby officially launched its new building on Saturday, with young people consulted during the design process.
The facility in Nunsthorpe has a dedicated arts and crafts space, music studio, games room, gaming areas and chill-out zones.
The £2.8m project was funded through the Youth Investment Fund and has been created to support young people within the community.
Callum Johnson, head of business and development at the centre, said more than 500 people came to see the space and join in with activities.
"Today alone, we've seen friendships form and memories made," he said.
"We can't wait for young people to make this space even more their own."
Johnson said it was designed to create an inspiring environment for young people to connect, develop skills and access support.
Tracey Good, Centre4 chief executive, said every young person deserved a space where they felt safe and valued.
"I think there's been such an underinvestment in youth provision and youth work over many, many years," she said.
"This is an opportunity for us to show some investment in our young people and some dedicated provision for them."
