Police are looking for James Duncan, 21, from the Barnet area

Police have released an image of a man they want to trace after a 19-year-old woman was allegedly killed at a house in north London.

Met Police officers were called to a property in Dale Grove, Finchley, shortly after midnight on Monday, after gunshots were heard.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of London Ambulance Service paramedics. No arrests have been made.

Officers want to find James Duncan, 21, from the Barnet area, who left Dale Grove at about midnight on Monday and has not been found.

The Met said her cause of death could not be confirmed because a post-mortem examination had yet to take place. A formal identification has also not been carried out.

The woman's family has been told and is being supported by specially trained officers.

Det Ch Insp Allam Bhangoo, who is leading the investigation, said: "My team are working around the clock to locate James Duncan and piece together the incident that resulted in the death of a much-loved young woman, daughter and sister.

"I urge people with information, especially those who have details on James' whereabouts, or anyone with relevant doorbell or dashcam footage from Dale Grove, to immediately contact police."

Det Ch Supt Luke Williams, who leads policing in the area, said the appeal would cause concern but that the force believed it to be an isolated incident.

"Keeping residents safe is our top priority and I would like to provide reassurance that we believe this to be an isolated incident," he said.
