The Gants Hill regeneration project has been in its planning stages for the last four years. Now having passed through a public consultation, the raw materials for the million pound project are being bought. It’s hoped the pedestrianization of the roundabout, new green landscaping will entice residents to walk, eat and shop in their locality. ![]() Gants Hill is one of a hundred public spaces singled out by London Mayor Ken Livingston for a cash injection. Three high rise developments are underway that will bring between 700-800 people into the area. Not everybody is happy with the towering additions, but Cllr. Keith Prince says good commuter links in Gants Hill makes such developments inevitable. He says: “Because it’s a transport hub, we can develop the residential area slightly more dense than we would want to else where.” Residents living on the Clarence Avenue, currently off the main roundabout are not happy with the plans to restrict the access of their road, but the Council has said it's a necessary part of the plans.
