A Leicestershire village church is offering worshippers a postal as well as a prayer service. All Saints Sheepy Magna Church has installed a post office, internet access and a shop selling local produce. Listen to Jessica Rose's report on the church: The changes started when the village's original post office closed three years ago. The Rev Annette Reed stepped in and offered the church vestry as an alternative venue for two days a week. | | All Saints Sheepy Magna Church |
Leicestershire County Council has also put in a PC so residents can view its website. Worshippers can also buy freshly baked bread and fair trade products in the church. Rev Reed, aged 51, says the changes have brought more people into the church and improved relations between neighbours. The mum-of-two said: "It hasn't necessarily increased the size of the congregation on Sundays. "But the number of people who now feel networked or connected to their community has gone up dramatically. "That's a good thing because I feel church isn't just about what happens on a Sunday". |
