Football's coming home...

to Leicestershire! Two schoolboys from the county have written and recorded their very own World Cup anthem which they hope to hear England fans singing and swaying to from the stands in this years football competition.

It could have ended a few notes short of disaster when a music teacher from Leicestershire asked his pupils to have a go at writing their own music.

"Oh Deutschland we are coming to knock you out the cup, 5-1 5-1 let the song be sung as football's coming home...England!"
Lyrics from Liam and Connor's World Cup song

But brothers, Liam and Connor Wilkinson from Thurmaston, turned to their football fanaticism for inspiration and created something very unexpected.

By the end of their music lesson they had written and rehearsed their very own England World Cup football anthem.

Take a listen here to their World Cup song and interview with BBC Leicester's Ben Jackson...

Five minutes after music teacher Andrew had set the challenge Liam, who plays the keyboard, had already written the first verse.

Connor and Andrew then began to improvise on guitar and the song began to take shape.

The brothers got family and friends involved to help create the backing track and then recorded the anthem in a home-recording studio in only one take.

All for a good cause

The boys hope that their songwriting debut can not only spur on the England football team and fans but raise money for charity too.

They are asking people to make a donation to BBC Children In Need after listening to the track on their website- www.england2006.org.uk
