Sam, Renee and Andy are recording. SAM: ….So, it seems that the old message of ‘just say no’ can apply to many different areas. Join me in saying no to the complete eradication of all food that is junk in our school canteens. We need a little fat to get us through those hockey matches in the middle of winter, to allow us girls to still wear our D.I.Y. school mini skirts, and to give us all a little padding on those cold and rainy cross country runs…..Andy. ANDY: Thanks Sam. An interesting story that (referring to his papers) oddly wasn’t on the scheduling. SAM: When you get a scoop about injustice towards the next generation, you’ve just got to run with it. ANDY: Where did this particular scoop come from then? SAM: A good reporter never reveals her sources, Andrew. ANDY: Yer, but I was asking you, Samantha. RENEE: (Interrupting) Next time, I’m going to be reporting live from the grand re-opening of The Black Bull. New décor, new management, new start. But can the ghosts of the fire really be put to rest? Short pause. AYESHA: And cut….Thanks everyone. Thanks Renee. ANDY: So, who are you sweet talking, Sam? SAM: People talk to me, what can I say. Sam walks off before Andy can say anything else. Scene Two - Café (Debbie Owen ) | | Wavelengths: Episode Six - Scene Two |
Renee and Rakhee catch up in the cafe. RENEE: Jo was trying for weeks to get a look at the new menus and the school wouldn’t let her anywhere near. I don’t understand where Sam got her information. RAKHEE: (Playing along) You don’t think she lied? RENEE: No, no….She wouldn’t. Andy approaches. ANDY: Course she would. It’s all part of being a reporter. RENEE: She’ll have a legitimate source; and it’s only right that she protects them. ANDY: That girl wouldn’t know a good story if it was gift-wrapped and posted to her with the words ‘really good story’ embossed on the front. RENEE: Give it a rest. ANDY: (Best creeping mode) You, on the other hand, Renee, are a good story. Renee walks away. Rakhee stands to follow. RAKHEE: Gift-wrapped and posted to you, I suppose. Andy beams his biggest smile as Rakhee walks off after Renee. ANDY: (Dreamily) Mmmm, unwrap slowly. Scene Three - Open Centre (Debbie Owen) | | Wavelengths: Episode Six - Scene Three |
Rocco and Rakhee are talking intimately in the open area. ROCCO: So, what did she say when you asked her about the pictures? RAKHEE: She wasn’t going to tell me anything at first. But then I showed her the pictures of you being beaten up by those four girls. Now, I know the name of the girl who videoed Kylie getting her eye poked out. ROCCO: Do you think we’ll get a reward? RAKHEE: Rocco, if we can expose this girl live on air, we’ll be heroes. ROCCO: I think Jo would want to tell the police. RAKHEE: Wait a minute. Our deal is with Sam. ROCCO: But this one was Jo’s story. RAKHEE: Was. Ayesha walks by. RAKHEE: How did Sam’s story go? AYESHA: Fantastic. Good piece of research Rocco. ROCCO: (Genuinely pleased) Thanks. AYESHA: You and Sam make a great team. Keep it up and the next full time research post is definitely yours. Ayesha leaves. Rakhee looks proud, Rocco looks a little guilty. |
