Leeds-based performing arts company, LS7 Results will be holding auditions for young actors to take part in a new stage and film production, while the two projects are based on the same story, they are separate, and prospective actors can decide which one they want to be involved with, or if they have the commitment, they can contribute to both. Around 30 young people are needed to get involved. The production needs actors, actresses, singers, rappers, MCs and dancers. It is open to anyone aged from 11 to 24. Previous experience isn't necessary, just bags of enthusiasm! The production is part of an innovative new arts project called Direct Impact, which aims to bring change to communities of young people in West Yorkshire. Anyone who turns up at the audition is guaranteed to be given some type of role in the project, so any aspiring actors or singers shouldn't be put off getting involved if they've never been in a film or theatre production before. The theatre and film production is called 'No Weapons Formed Against Me Shall Prosper' and will preview on 31 March 2010 at The Carriageworks theatre in Millennium Square. Weekly workshops are already under way to offer young hopefuls a chance to brush-up on their skills with training and one-on-one tuition in preparation for the auditions. Professional artists will be on hand every Monday at Woodhouse Community Centre (197 Woodhouse St) and every Wednesday at Little London Community Centre (Oatland Lane) from 6.30pm to 8.30pm until Wednesday 7 October 2009. Direct Impact uses creative arts methods to develop life skills, self-discipline and confidence, as well as to promote weapons awareness. Through a collective process of creative and personal development together with intensive theatrical training, young people will produce modern day theatre and film for a large audience. As part of the company's Youth Development Plan, all of the cast will also be put forward for a Bronze Arts Award. Chantelle Davis, the play's writer, is looking forward to getting the production started: "This is not only a great opportunity for budding young stars to get involved in an exciting production, but the project will also help to engage the West Yorkshire community in an important social issue. LS7 Results prides itself on tackling serious issues in a fun and creative way." Auditions are being held on Saturday 10 October 2009 at Little London Community Centre, Oatland Lane from 10am to 1pm for 11 to 16-year-olds and from 2pm to 6pm for 16 to 24-year-olds.
