Printmakers try to help keep the helicopters flying

The printmakers exhibition returns with pieces available to buy and proceeds going to charity.

Leeds Imprint is an exhibition of printmakers living or working in the Leeds and Bradford postcode areas. It is now in its fourth year. The idea behind the exhibition is to promote Leeds and Bradford Printmakers to the public.

The exhibition is open to everyone that has been printmaking at school, evening class, college, university and on their own. All costs are kept to a minimum so that everyone can participate.

Any commission from sales of the works in the 2008 exhibition will go to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Appeal. In 2007 there were around 40 artists participating so it is hoped that even more will be involved in 2008 and raise funds for a good cause.

The exhibition will be spread across three venues: the LGI Tonic Gallery, the Leeds Design Innovation Centre and the Carriageworks. The three venues will be displaying work throughout the month of June.

The Tonic Art Gallery in the Leeds General Infirmary is run by Tonic, an arts charity in the Leeds hospitals that organises a variety of events for patients as well as having a say in the arts development of the buildings themselves.

Tonic have supported Leeds Imprint since it started. The same can be said of the Leeds Innovation Design Centre where Amy Mapp has always allowed Leeds Imprint the month it needed.

A new venue for 2008 will be the Carriageworks Theatre where Leeds imprint artworks will adorn the walls of the public area for the first time.

Imprint 2008 runs throughout June 2008 at:
Leeds General Infirmary, Tonic Art Space, Great George Street
Leeds Design Innovation Design Centre, 46 The Calls
The Carriageworks, Millennium Square
