Colin Challen’s You are Here (see picture above) was one of seven successful entries chosen by the judges for a £100 bursary, donated to the charity CLIC Sargent, which provides care and financial support for children and their families living with cancer and leukaemia. Colin told BBC Leeds, " I do take my photography seriously and I try to carry a camera at all times. See more pictures" You are Here was a picture of a sign I saw in a Hull regeneration area, it was obliterated with graffiti. It was one of those signs that say 'You are Here' but it was impossible to tell where 'here' was, so it's an ironic picture. "It's about having an eye for the picture, sometimes an unusual angle really makes the shot. I used to have a darkroom and all that gear, now I use a digital camera and a computer but it is still about being creative." Over 100 photographs were on display in the exhibition, revealing the world our peers and politicians see during their duties or on their travels. The seven Judges' choices, including Colin's picture, are now canvassing votes from members of the public at www.jessops.com/parliament, in a bid to be number one. The people's favourite wins a further £100 for CLIC Sargent. The six other pictures were taken by Austin Mitchell (Great Grimsby), Clive Betts (Sheffield Attercliffe), Diana Johnson (Hull North), Elliot Morley (Scunthorpe), Kevin Barron (Rother Valley) and Meg Munn (Sheffield Heeley). A calendar featuring a dozen of the best photographs can be found on the Jessop website, with proceeds going to the charity. last updated: 23/05/2008 at 11:41 SEE ALSOYou are in: Leeds > Entertainment > Visual Arts > Picture this External Listings
