Prints and textiles by local artist Joanne Fox are now showing in a new exhibition at Leeds Design and Innovation Centre throughout August. Joanne, the proud owner of a first class degree in fine art has previously been exhibited in Artworks at Flannels and appeared on the front cover of a-n Magazine for May 2007. ![]() In describing her art, she states that her aim is to reach a point whereby commonplace objects fuse with organic life to form images of enclosure, the visual metaphor for female experience across centuries and continents. Old masters of the brush combine with past mistresses of the needle to represent traces of past and present human activities and preoccupations. The digital and giclee prints on velvet, acetate and canvasĀ hope to demonstrate the continuous stranglehold of the past, both in ideas surrounding transcendence and in present cultural values. Joanne's exhibition is open to the public at Leeds Design Innovation Centre, 46 The Calls from Thursday 2 August until Friday 31 August 2007. Opening hours are 8.45am - 5.15pm Monday to Friday. last updated: 01/08/07 SEE ALSOYou are in: Leeds > Entertainment > Visual Arts > Art in The Calls External Listings
