American-born photographer Casey Orr, a resident of Armley, decided last summer to visit her hometown of Chester, Pennsylvania but not by the usual methods of transport for such a distance - car and plane. ![]() Fishing at Skipton Casey dug out her bike and went down the path near her house to Armley Mills and then the 127 miles along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, before boarding a container ship in Liverpool to traverse the Atlantic. Nine days and approximately 3000 miles later, she arrived in the small port town of Chester. 'By Water' showcases the photographs taken along the way on this most unusual journey of discovery. 'By Water' will run at the Armley Mills Industrial Museum, Canal Road, Armley from Friday 6 July until Friday 31 August 2007.
