As soon as we realised on Friday that the river level was likely to rise, Steve went straight out and started adjusting ropes to help the boats rise up too. He also helped our next-door neighbour to dig a channel around the side of their house to divert the water running through their garage.  For the next five days we were up from five o'clock every morning, and during this time, with the help of our neighbour Paul, brother-in-law Paul, his friend Dave and myself, Steve rowed out and saved 51 boats from either sinking or floating away. He only regrets that he was unable to save the four boats which did sink.
