I've been texting trainers in Gloucestershire and all over Great Britain, Ireland, France and Germany over the last few weeks for horses to follow for the new season.
This is what I got back - a big thank you to you all the trainers.
Trainers in Gloucestershire
- Mary Hambro (Sezincote) text me "Rose Row" who is a lovely 3 year old and hopefully she could be very good.
- Julian Smith (Tirley) reckons "Fine By Me" is worth keeping an eye on – he is a really nice horse, with lots of ability.
- Richard Phillips (Adlestrop) text back "King Jack".
- Tom George (Slad) said "Zanir" - Tom likes this horse a lot.
- John O'Shea (Westbury on Severn) says "Lord Oroco", half brother to Blazing Bailey, so hopefully he could be very good.
- Dr Phillip Pritchard (Purton) says "Hi Tech".
- Norman Babbage (Brockhampton) "Paddy's Tern" a horse we know a lot about already - sees my February instalment.
- Kahlil J. Burke (Bourton on the Water) fancies "Raysrock" and "Intersky Sports" - Kahlil is a trainer on the up and up so watch for these two.
- Charlie Longsdon (Sezincote) - "Otage de Brion", a horse that is owned by Sir Robert Ogden and won on his British debut, while Charlie is a trainer who could be going all the way to the top.
- Martin Keighley (Condicote) - "Mic Aubin" – he's a lovely horse.
- Jonjo O'Neill (Jackdaws Castle) - "Wichita Lineman"...thanks Jonjo, I could have picked that one out myself!
Trainers in the rest of Great Britain
- H. J .Manners (Swindon) goes for 2 of his horses - "Man From Highworth" and "Manners" who is a horse he got from Jonjo O'Neill's yard.
- M. J. Grassick (Curragh) says "Moore's Law" - watch out if he comes over to Cheltenham!
- Henrietta Knight (Wantage) suggests we follow "Calgary Bay"
- Philip Hobbs (Minehead) says "Snap Tie", he's a really nice horse with lots of ability.
- Carl Llewellyn (Upper Labourn) - "Quartano". Carl likes this horse a lot.
- Noel Chance (Upper Labourn) - "Aux Le Bahnn"
- Brendan Duke (Lambourn). Brendan phoned me and told me "Openide" is from his yard.
- Evan Williams (Llancarfan) - "Deep Purple" - an unbeaten novice and a very nice horse.
- Norma Pook (Swindon) text me - "Chico Time" and "Urban Warrior".
- Paul Nicholls (Shepton Mallet) - "Twist Magic" - his ultimate target is the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the festival in 2008, he could be that good.
- Paul Blockley (Newport) - I asked Paul if he had any horses to follow for the 2007-2008 national hunt season and this is what I got back. "Hi Colin, nothing to follow - they are all too fast and if anyone can catch one we will have a fortune on it!".
Trainers in Ireland
- Charlie Swan (Tipperary) - "One Cool Cookie" - watch out if he comes over to Cheltenham.
- Willie Mullins (Carlow) - "Black Harry", he is a big strong horse who is going chasing this season.
- A.L.Moore (Naas) - "Oscar for Peter" - watch out for him in a photo finish.
Trainers in France and Germany
- Francois Doumen (Bouce). He sent me three to watch out for "Grand Bleu", "Kasbah Bliss" and "Moulin Riche". All three are very good horses.
- Chiristian Von Der Recke (Weilerswist) - "Song of Pride" and "Swordsman".
Update so far
Deep Purple who is trained by Evan Williams (Liancarfan) has won twice for us so far, oh boy he could be something special.
Snap Tie who was the one to watch from Philip Hobbs (Minehead) won at Cheltenham on the 19th of October, he looks good to me.
